From Cornwall College in Montego Bay, to UTech in Kingston

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone" – Walsch

An aspiring engineer, a former Cornwall College High School student and now a student at the University of Technology, meets Jinorri, a young guy with a desire for brilliance.

Jinorri joined us in August 2020. He was a part of the college preparation cohort at the time. He was given advise, suggestions, and methods for navigating the transition from high school to university. He was a proud member of the internship cohort this year. Even though he was unable to participate as fully as he would have liked because of circumstances beyond his control, he was appreciative to the mentors, speakers, and new learning opportunities that came as a result of his involvement.

He emphasized how difficult the college application process was for him because of the current situation with COVID-19 and CXC CAPE withholding his exam grades. Nevertheless, he endured through this challenging period by remaining persistent and interacting with his university on a regular basis.

He was able to push himself out of his comfort zone because to the Dream Jamaica board's consistent encouragement.

"The most important thing they taught me was that if I want to know and achieve something, I have to seek out to find out. It will not come to me by sitting and waiting. They pushed me to step beyond of my comfort zone."

In the next five years, he aims to become a mechanical engineer after completing his degree, acquiring work experience, and while finding ways to give back to the community.
